Job Description

During this 8 week contract, the Summer Student - Team Assistant will provide support to our Health Care Connects Program. 

 

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in providing connected, accessible, patient-centred care – and be supported by our collaborative team that includes over 9,000 regulated health care and other professionals.

 

As a valued team member, your mission will be to help our patients be healthier at home, while you benefit from our supports for professional growth, personal wellness and work-life balance.

 

What will you do?

  • Contacting patients to confirm if they require connection to a Primary Care Physician.
  • Updating patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify and update patient contact information.
  • Other duties as required.

What must you have?

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary educational institution and returning to school full-time in September.
  • Completion of at least one year post-secondary education in a relevant health-related field such as gerontology, nursing ((includes Registered Nursing and Registered Practice Nurse), medical office administration, preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency required in database software and MS Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong listening skills
  • Ability to attend training for one week on site.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes days, evenings and weekends to meet organizational needs
  • We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, all employees are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination status prior to start date.

What would give you the edge?

  • Current enrollment in a Registered Practical Nursing or Registered Nurse program is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, and office administrative procedures/concepts
  • Knowledge of services provided by Ontario Health atHome
  • Ability to speak French or another second language
