Ontario Health atHome is looking for an experienced person where The Privacy Coordinator will support Ontario Health atHome’s Privacy and Access programs in accordance with organizational responsibilities under provincial privacy legislation (FIPPA, PHIPA, ARA). This role serves as a point of contact for privacy, access and health record related inquiries. Coordinating requests for access to information under PHIPA and FIPPA, responding to CHRIS manual tasks and corrections, conducting privacy audits and providing guidance and training will be a significant part of the work required.

What will you do?
Privacy and Access
- Receives and processes requests for release of personal health information to authorized recipients within legislative timelines while ensuring privacy, confidentiality and security at all times.
- Assists in the design, development, implementation, evaluation and evolution of the organization’s Privacy Program, including designing and delivering access and privacy training.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints regarding access to client records.
- Interacts effectively with patient and their families, law offices, insurance companies, other health care providers.
- Processes, analyzes, and assists in the preparation of recommendations for response to requests and appeals under FIPPA.
- Prepares release packages under FIPPA as required.
- Assists the Manager and/or Privacy Leads/Specialists in conducting privacy impact assessments and reviewing business agreements to ensure that all privacy concerns, requirements and responsibilities are addressed.
- Assists with privacy audits and breach investigations in compliance with Ontario Health atHome requirements under PHIPA and FIPPA.
- Other duties as assigned
Record Management
- Responds to CHRIS manual tasks and corrections
- Assists in lifecycle management of Ontario Health atHome business records
- Delivers education and training for Ontario Health atHome staff with respect to records and information management
- Ensures the proper storage, retention, and destruction of Health Information in accordance with legal requirements and appropriate legislation
What must you have?
- A university degree/college diploma with specialization in health information management, information management, social sciences or a related discipline
- Up to one year of professional experience (or equivalent)
- Professional certification in Access and Privacy preferred, CIPP/C considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience responding to record corrections with CHRIS
- Ability to perform effectively both independently and in collaborative teams
- Knowledge of relevant information health and public sector privacy laws and best practices
- Demonstrated experience responding to requests for access under PHIPA and FIPPA
- Knowledge of the Ontario health sector - roles, responsibilities and accountabilities
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills to balance conflicting demands and multiple priorities
- Understanding of the Ministry mandated services through Ontario Health atHome

Position location and travel
- Hybrid work model, subject to change.
- A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. Provincial position is flexible and could be located at any Ontario Health atHome office.
