Ontario Health at Home is looking for an experienced risk management professional to work with the Director, Quality and Risk Planning and Standardization supporting the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the inaugural Enterprise Risk Management Framework for Ontario Health atHome.  As the Manager, Enterprise Risk Management you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) to adopt HIROC’s Risk Register in order to enable effective communication and data sharing across the organization.    This position will be responsible for working with our internal partners and stakeholders to adopt implementation and management of the next three-year plan of HIROC’ Risk Assessment Checklists (RAC). The Manager will also assist the work of the portfolio to align and integrate the enterprise risk management strategy with the business strategy, corporate performance monitoring, safety, patient experience, ethics and quality improvement.  The incumbent’s experience in helping to manage an aligned enterprise wide approach to risk management will provide the organization with the foundation required for effective management of risk at a provincial level.  The key functions of this role will include the development of cohesive operating and communication procedures, which ensure a strong alignment with Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health, to support the advancement of healthcare transformation

  • Salary: $108,339 to $129,362

 

What will you do?

Working in partnership with the Director, Quality and Risk Planning and Standardization, this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Support the development and roll out of an implementation and education plans for Ontario Health atHome’s Enterprise Risk Management program.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technical support to the provincial enterprise risk register users, and primary liaison between internal stakeholders and HIROC risk register technical support team. 
  • As a lead for the enterprise risk management function development, act as the key subject matter expert and consultant for risk management.
  • Establish and foster strong working relationships with internal and external health and community stakeholders including the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health and other healthcare sector partners, and seek opportunities for collaboration and joint planning.
  • Evaluate the ERM program development project plans, objectives and deliverables and work collaboratively with the enterprise risk management oversight committee and key stakeholders   to identify challenges and emerging issues, and define and execute appropriate strategies to address them.
  • Assist with risk information gathering and analysis for the purpose of continuously building a harmonized risk profile and approach provincially.
  • Develop and maintain the provincial risk reporting schedule 
  • Coordinate and manage HIROC’s Risk Assessment Checklist (RAC) Program.  
  • Maintain engagement and awareness of local initiatives and projects, working across Ontario Health atHome to drive forward implementation of a consistent risk process across the organization
  • Proactively identify areas requiring risk treatment through the application of the risk assessment and management processes and tools.
  • Work together within the Quality and Risk portfolio to support the integration of the Risk Management Framework, including the application of risk management tools and process. 
  • Ensure enterprise risk management processes align with Ontario Health and the broader Ontario Health atHome strategic goals and operational models

 

What must you have? 

  • University degree in related discipline; Master’s degree an asset
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of risk management experience, preferably in healthcare with a minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Extensive experience with the use of risk management tools and strategies
  • Experience in and working knowledge of quality improvement, performance management concepts, strategies and standards in a healthcare environment
  • Experience providing risk management recommendations and risk mitigation strategies to senior leadership
  • Ability to identify and implement evidenced based approaches to risk management
  • Demonstrated understanding of whole enterprise risk management approach
  • Strong project management skills and knowledge of quality improvement and project management tools and processes
  • Proven leadership skills demonstrated through progressive experience in large and complex health and human service delivery organizations.
  • Exceptional skill in developing and managing effective relationships in a complex multi stakeholder healthcare environment.
  • Superior collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to work with a variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to staff, patients, service providers and other health and community care partners
  • Highly developed change management skills and ability to communicate a compelling vision for change that is strategic and future oriented to lead Ontario Health atHome’s evolving organization and portfolio.
  • Ability to effectively present information and provide briefings to the leadership teams and staff.
  • We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, all employees are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination status prior to start date
