Ontario Health atHome is looking for an exceptional Senior IT Technician & Systems Administrator to join our Waterloo Wellington IT team.

What will you do?

  • Maintains the performance and integrity of OHaH Waterloo Wellington’s hardware and software resources including network equipment, server hardware, databases, and operating systems
  • Leads or supports internal project teams in the development and deployment of technical solutions including: requirements gathering, timeline development, stakeholder engagement, and implementation management
  • Supports, maintains, monitors, upgrades, performs backups, and deploys: servers, routers, switches, firewalls, databases, computer hardware, and software applications
  • Maintains and monitors the integrity of the LAN and connectivity to remote offices, ISPs, provincial data centres, and other OHaH via VPN or private networks
  • Liaises regularly with OHaH and other external stakeholders as a key contact for provincial IT projects and deployments
  • Works with staff and external partners to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Provides tier 2 support for the OHaH Waterloo Wellington IT Helpdesk, backs up the IT Technician role (tier 1 support) as required
  • IT contingency planning and disaster recovery
  • Creates and maintains Group policies for OHaH Waterloo Wellington servers and computers
  • Ensures optimal performance and security of applications and hardware within the network
  • Monitors and applies Anti Virus, hardware and Software patching, Robotic Automation Processes
  • Remains current with new technologies and suggesting upgrades/changes to current infrastructure
  • Takes all reasonable steps to ensure a health and safe work environment and participates in continuous quality improvement
  • Trains IS Technicians on new technical solutions for the organization
  • Other duties as required

What must you have?

  • Grade 12 graduation plus an additional program of over 2 years and up to 3 years in computer science or a similar technology field.
  • Networking and/or Microsoft certification is an asset
  • 4 to 5 years’ relevant experience with computer systems administration and customer support.
  • Experienced in configuring and implementing of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, databases, computer hardware, and software applications.
  • Proven experience with administration of Microsoft products especially: server operating systems, Hyper-V, and SQL Enterprise.
  • Practical experience in system support is required.
  • Proficient in the operation of a personal computer in a networked environment using computer software and data entry skills.
  • Tact and diplomacy are required when communicating both orally and in writing for the discussion and resolution of problems by presenting or obtaining detailed information.
  • Occasionally trains other IT staff members.
  • Experience dealing with and working collaboratively with external vendors
  • Knowledge of office systems, procedures and business practices.
  • An understanding of project management fundamentals is an asset.
